We Get It

Nobody likes spending money on foundation repairs. To make matters worse, foundation and crawl space repair can be pricey and leave you wondering if it was worth the money. Unlike renovating your kitchen and enjoying a new cooking area, crawl space and foundation repair restore your home’s structural integrity. Most people don’t get excited about buying a set of push piers or a crawl space drainage system.

The thing is, if structural problems are left untreated, they’ll get worse, leaving you with a more expensive repair. So, it’s always best to catch foundation problems early. Nothing compares to the peace of mind you get from protecting your home’s most critical part, its foundation.

Mariel McClung: Leading with Grit, Grace, & Vision

It’s hard to talk about the impact Mariel McClung has made without first acknowledging how she leads—with intention, integrity, heart, and (of course) grit. As a woman in a male-dominated field, she’s breaking barriers and rewriting what leadership looks like in the construction industry.

Mariel doesn’t just lead by example—she leads by inclusion. She has intentionally created opportunities for women, mentoring female team members, and advocating for more equitable hiring and leadership practices across the industry.

She’s also brought a more strategic, systems-focused approach to an industry that often lags behind in innovation—raising the bar for professionalism and ethics across the board. She refuses to accept the “but we’ve always done it this way” mindset. As a proud recipient of the Better Business Bureau’s Torch Award for Ethics, Mariel prioritizes doing the right thing, always. That conviction is rooted in her deep faith in God—faith that has guided her since leaving her childhood home in Bolivia at age 13 to start over in a new country.

She worked her way through college, juggling multiple jobs while earning a dual degree in Psychology and Biology from the College of William & Mary. That same resilience and hustle shape every decision she makes today—as a business owner, a mentor, and a servant leader.

Transforming an Industry from the Inside Out

Since officially joining AMC911 Crawl Space & Foundation Repair in 2012, Mariel has played a transformative role in shaping the company into the most trusted foundation repair business in Hampton Roads. As Co-Owner and Director of Operations, she modernized and scaled the business—without ever losing sight of the people behind it: her team, her clients, and her community.

Before AMC911, Mariel built a successful career in business and systems integration consulting, helping large organizations operate more efficiently. When she stepped into AMC911, she brought that same clarity and strategy—but didn’t just join the company. She reshaped it.

In an industry that often resists change, she asked hard questions, studied the gaps, and implemented thoughtful innovation. She introduced digital systems that streamlined operations—from scheduling to communication—making workflows more efficient and the customer experience more transparent. She even developed educational tools that made a highly technical service like foundation repair approachable and clear, earning trust and loyalty from clients.

Under her leadership, the company launched AMC911 University, a structured training and development program offering clear career paths and growth opportunities for team members. She also established the company’s Research & Development Department, using the latest tools—from drones and AI to in-house mold labs—to continually improve service quality.

Since Mariel took the reins, AMC911 has seen 25% year-over-year growth, a true testament to her leadership and the forward momentum she brings to every department.

A Culture Built on People, Not Just Process

Mariel’s impact isn’t limited to operations. She’s deeply committed to building a workplace culture where everyone feels heard, seen, and supported. At AMC911, team members don’t just clock in—they contribute. Whether it’s finding the best deal on a car to donate or physically helping with community service projects, everyone gets involved.

“We serve together,” Mariel often says—and she means it. That spirit of unity is what makes the culture feel more like family than just a company.

Giving Back – Locally & Globally

Mariel also leads the company’s philanthropic work through the AMC911 Foundation, which supports initiatives ranging from housing and education to emergency relief and family services. Under her direction, charitable giving is not just a side effort—it’s built into the company’s DNA.

This year alone, the foundation has:

  • Donated two minivans to Shining Light Homes to help single mothers access reliable transportation.
  • Completed two $20,000+ repair projects—one for an elderly woman with limited resources, and another for a military family battling mold-induced illnesses due to unsafe housing conditions.
  • Scheduled a full foundation and mold remediation project for a local foster home in urgent need of repairs—set to be completed by year-end.

Globally, AMC911 supports a boys’ orphanage in Bolivia, Mariel’s home country. The orphanage houses 40 boys, from newborns to young adults, offering shelter, education, and hope for a better future.

Whether local or international, these projects aren’t just funded by the company—they’re driven by the hands and hearts of its people.

A Champion for Women & Minorities in Construction

As one of the few women at the helm of a construction company, Mariel knows what it’s like to be underrepresented. And she’s made it her mission to change that—not just by mentoring and hiring women herself, but by actively advocating for more inclusive hiring, promotion, and leadership practices across the industry.

She’s created tangible pathways for women to enter and grow in construction—from field work to management. There are women today running successful businesses, asking for what they deserve, or stepping into leadership and many of them have Mariel to thank for that.

Mariel is active in women-led business groups, roundtables, and service networks—not just to grow AMC911, but to shape the future of her community and industry. Her story—immigrant, first-generation college student, woman in construction, systems strategist, and now, changemaker—proves that real leadership blends head, heart, and hard work.

More Than a Business Owner: A Changemaker

Mariel McClung is not just building a business—she’s building people, changing perceptions, and setting new standards for what’s possible in her industry.

She shows up. She leads with purpose. She challenges the norm. And she continues to redefine what leadership looks like in spaces where women, immigrants, and minorities have too often been overlooked.

Her story, her impact, and her unwavering belief in doing the right thing make her a force of change—and a leader worth watching.

The Matriarch Behind It All

Mariel is a mother to two thriving children, stepmother to two wonderful bonus kids, and a loving abuelita to four beautiful grandchildren. Despite her full professional plate, Mariel remains actively involved in the daily lives of her children and grandkids — showing them, through example, what hard work, ethics, and strong values truly look like.

She pours whatever free time she has into nurturing, guiding, and building up the next generation — not only shaping a business, but helping shape future contributors to society. Her love, wisdom, and strength anchor both her family and the company she leads.

Brian McClung – Founder & CEO, AMC911 Foundation & Crawl Space Repair

Brian McClung isn’t your typical CEO… he didn’t climb a corporate ladder, he crawled through it.\
From the time he was 13, Brian was getting his hands dirty under homes & inside crawl spaces most people wouldn’t step foot in. While other kids were riding bikes, he was learning how to mix mortar, set block, &understand the anatomy of a solid foundation- all under the watchful eye of Mr. Andrucci, his best friend’s father & a revered Italian Master Mason.

That early hands-on experience didn’t just teach Brian a trade, it instilled in him a deep respect for craftsmanship, structural integrity, & doing things right the first time. It was the beginning of a lifelong mission: to restore what others thought was beyond saving.

By the age of 18, Brian was accepted into a competitive four-year apprenticeship with Chesapeake Masonry, where he trained on high-profile historical restorations in Colonial Williamsburg, including the Williamsburg Lodge Expansion & the Shields Tavern. After completing his apprenticeship, he became a foreman overseeing structural &  waterproofing projects across the region.

That early, hands-on experience became Brian’s secret weapon. He doesn’t just design foundation systems - he’s lived them. He’s installed them, repaired them, &trouble-shot every kind of issue from the soil up. That rare combination of real-world expertise & forward-thinking leadership is what powers the success of AMC911 Foundation & Crawl Space Repair, which he founded in 1993.

Under Brian’s leadership, AMC911 has become a trusted name across the 757- known for combining old-world craftsmanship with modern technology, & for treating customers like neighbors, not numbers. His MBA from Regent University & background in theology have shaped a leadership style grounded in integrity.  His unique combination of technical skill, business insight, & a values-driven mindset informs every facet of how he leads AMC911.

Brian’s proud to have led many commercial & residential projects within the community to include foundation & masonry repair at Eastern VA Medical School, St. Lukes Church of Norfolk, the Flame of Hope, Lafayette Towers, and many more.

Brian also leads the company’s charitable arm, the AMC911 Foundation, which supports community-focused initiatives from local housing repairs to international outreach. Recent projects include:

  • Donating vans to single mothers in need
  • Completing major home repairs for military & elderly families
  • Funding a full foundation &mold remediation for a local foster home
  • Supporting an orphanage in Bolivia, providing shelter & education for 40 children

When he’s not working on projects or giving back to the community, Brian likes to challenge the team to an arm-wrestling match now & then. So far, no one’s beaten him.

At the end of the day, Brian’s all about building strong foundations -for homes, families, & what’s ahead.
